While the surface for the pickleball court is not expensive, it is always advisable to have
the correct base for the surface. Most people unfortunately use a concrete base which cracks owing
to expansion and contraction as temperatures differ during daytime and nighttime. These cracks
show up on the surface, especially if you are playing on a hard court (acrylic court). The ideal
surface for this type of surface would be asphalt but this could be expensive to build owing to
the small size of the pickleball court. The top surface should always be put with care and cushion
layers are important as they prevent injury and are softer on the calves and knees. A typical
price range for the top surface, suitably engineered for the game, would be between Rs. 70 Rs. 95
per sqft..
Add pickleball line markings, using a different colour, integrated into the tennis court. Use
movable pickleball poles and net and you are ready to play.
The more advisable surface for pickleball would be a hard court/acrylic court. However, be
careful that the product you use is not simply painting your floor. It is advisable to have
adequate correct cushion layers to prevent injury or strain on your claves and knees. The UV
fastness in the colours that you use is equally critical for it prevents quick fading. It is also
possible to use artificial turf but you need to ensure that the pile height is low, material Is
dense and that the stitch rate is high.
The dividers are usually made of mesh netting or vinyl/cardboard boards as they prevent the
ball going to the adjacent courts. These can also be made aesthetically using artificial turf to
create hedges between the courts.
